Brigantine 6-17-2000
by George Albaugh

Hi Greg, preliminary report and commentary:

I'm back to work for one day (will go back to Brigantine Monday night and rejoin family for a week's vacation and return to Maryland Saturday). I will provide a full report at that time, and will eventually provide some of Ingrid's photos .

The high lights:

We had 19 boats in three divisions. Modern had 8 boats, as did Classic. Three boats contested the Vintage division. We had fresh breeze and good sailing. Sailed 5 races. Joe Bousquet repeated as Modern Moth Champion. Walt Collins retained his crown as South Jersey Classic Champion. Jean Gruhler won Fox's Cup in the Vintage division. Per Sandell was the Junior champ. Nancy Tidy was the women's champion. Herb Fithian was recognized as the oldest competitor. The age range of skippers ran from 13 to 76. Joe and Judy Courter hosted a marvelous pre-regatta BBQ on Friday night. The Atlantic City Press wasted a little ink on us in the Saturday paper and promises a full report in the Wednesday edition which

apparently features a sailing column. Perhaps this publicity will shake out a boat or two.
