Hertford, NC

Greg:

Hi Ya'll, There we were in Hertford NC for the NC Moth Boat Championship. George Bailey, Brian Gregory, Mike Parsons, and me, Greg Duncan. well it was a dark and stormily looking day but no rain, yet. Good breeze about 10 shifty with gust to 15ish. As we left the dock sprinkle then hard warm rain, big gusts. The race course was a triangle windward leeward windward to finish.

First race George showed us the stern of his boat. Brian saw the bow but not at the finish. gee our Mistrials are slower than those older hulls. Second race was Brian's turn to display his stern. Pay back to George. I got pasted down wind by Mike and was able to pass him at the finish by 1/2 a boat length. Close racing with passes. tactics were paying off.

Third and final race good wind light rain. I got a great start. went right brian and george went left Mike was on my stern waiting for me to goof. well I was third at the windward mark. George went east the rest of us staied on course. Being a kind sort I asked George where he was going. He turned on plane and flew to the wing mark. we fought to the windwardmark again Brian and George went left Mike and I went right. Passed Brian and George at the leeward mark. covered for the win. we had some very close races used tatics. hiked out. got wet and ate NC BBQ.

Great race, people and food. Brian took firstplace. followed by George, Myself and Mike. With the weather like it was more boats did't come. But its always fun. The old designs are fast when you have seat time in them. If Brian could sail more we would all be building MInts.
