(CMBA) Rockville SC
Sea Island Regatta Report May 29, 1999

by Randall Swan

Greg, the report and commentary:

Idealic conditions, 14 knot breeze, the beautiful Waccamaw River, and seven Moth boats made the Sea Island Yacht Club regatta at Rockville, SC a resounding success.

Formula for winning: skill, experience, local knowledge, fast boats, and a little luck. Randall Swan #1052 in Ted Causey built "Engergizer" took first place closely followed by Fred Marschink #30 "Grady Too" with Nancy Swan securing a third in a Vintage "Pooh". Other enterance possessed the skill and experienced, but luck evaded as the wind and currents teamed up to dunk them one by one. Also participating were Jerry Carter #4067 "(not so) Mean Tangerine", Lewis Hey #1338, Randall Stoney Jr. #1179 in his '49 Ventnor, and Jack Lucas #7 sailing "Plain Vanilla.

Bye Y'all, Randall
