Ware Rive Yatch Club Regatta 8/5/2000
by George Albaugh

Hi Greg, preliminary report and commentary:

We had 9 boats. We had good breeze to work with for all but the last race on Saturday and even that was a tolerable "fading" breeze. On Sunday we had all we wanted in the wind department by the time the second race started (12 to 20knts with some BIG holes!). There were several capsizes, but everyone recovered without assistance. Mark finished 1st, brother Craig was 2nd, Joe B. was 3rd. Ken Wilus drove up from St. Pete in time to buy Glenn Brown's Fletcher-Cates and race with us. He's building a Dorr Willey replica from the Museum plans and also wants to build a Mistral. I sailed my Shelley, SAY WHEN, and George Bailey, Joe Courter, Susan Bousquet and my son Erik (sailing the RED SLED in his racing debut) rounded out the slate. Ted Causey sailed briefly with us in STIMULATOR, a boat similar to your ENERGIZER. So, that's about it. The Lt. Gov presented the big cup to the Albacore fleet (they had 15 boats) and a good time was had by all!
